Why it matters

Your time changes lives.

In Blackpool, the demand for mental health support far exceeds NHS capacity. Our volunteers fill that gap — providing professional, confidential counselling to people who would otherwise wait months or go without. When you volunteer with CITC, you're not just gaining experience. You're giving someone the support they need to move forward.

How to get involved

Volunteer roles at CITC

Volunteer Counsellor

Use your counselling training to provide one-to-one support to people who need it most. Our volunteer counsellors see clients at one of our four hubs or remotely, and there's always a senior member of staff on site if you need someone to talk to.

What we look for

  • Counselling qualification or significant training
  • Commitment to regular sessions (typically 1 morning/week)
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Commitment to regular placement sessions

Trustee

Help guide the strategic direction of Counselling in the Community as a board member. We welcome trustees with experience in finance, governance, law, HR, marketing, or lived experience of mental health.

What we look for

  • Interest in charity governance
  • Relevant professional or lived experience
  • Attend quarterly board meetings
  • Enhanced DBS check

Corporate Partner

Support community mental health through your business. Whether it's fundraising, sponsorship, payroll giving, or pro-bono professional skills — we'd love to hear how we can work together.

What we look for

  • Business based in or serving the Fylde Coast
  • Commitment aligned with our charitable mission
